Wheelpress and bogie test plant

   

In October 2007 Stork Railway Services openend her new workshop in Rotterdam. This workshop is equipped with a wheels press and a bogie testing plant.
Wheelpress- for mounting wheels and axles Our Dieffenbacher wheel press is a large horizontal press where tons of force is used to press the wheels onto the train and locomotive axles. During the pressing process the pressure is measured and gauged to the right specs for their future operations, in according with the required UIC 813 standards.  Bogie test plant - for wheel pressure distribution measurement Our bogie test plant plant is capable of simulating a vehicle load acting on a bogie. For each wheel the load can be measured and the distribution of the loads on the bogie can be determined. The bogie test plant consists of a rigid frame provided with a short track, hydraulic system, calibrated load cells and electronic measurement equipment. Bogies have to be installed in the test frame. By the load cells the bogie will be loaded with the specified vehicle mass. The track underneath the wheel of the bogie is equipped with load cells to registrer the load per wheel. By performing these measurements on four wheels simultaneously the distribution of the load on the bogie can be determined. The obtained measurement information have to be in accordance with the required specifications of the bogie. Evenso the height of a bogie underneath a simulated coach can be adjusted and notarised. By this bogie testing plant Stork Railway Services is able to run the bogie acceptance tests.  Bogie acceptance tests Before a component of rolling stock is accepted by the customer, there will be many formal tests to be performed. The bogie testing plant is able to precisely measure wheel-load differences on the bogies.
