TR integrity testing qualification
Stork and bSolutions developed the industry's first Temporary Refuge (TR) Testing City & Guilds Qualification which was awarded the 'Innovation in Safety' accolade at the UK Oil and Gas Industry Safety Awards 2013. Stork provided expert technical input and worked with bSolutions @ Banff & Buchan College and Callum MacDonald, lecturer in Mechanical Engineering to develop the innovative course. The training has been fully inspected and approved by the internationally recognized City & Guilds which has ensured that all Health and Safety Executive recommendations are met.

Extended Reach Breathing Apparatus System (ERBAS)
When working in a confined space on assets such as inside a platform leg or a FPSO tank, the distance traveled on breathing apparatus (BA) can be in the region of 200 meters and in some cases this also include a vertical climb.The widely used conventional airline/escape BA only supplies 10 minutes of emergency air. In the event of the main airline supply failing the operative does not have sufficient emergency air to evacuate to a safe area. The current method to allow operatives to work at this distance is to supply cylinder change out stations at various points along the exit route.  This allows the BA operative to exchange an empty cylinder for a full one allowing them a further 10 minutes to continue their escape. Stork’s solution to this industry challenge is the Extended Reach Breathing Apparatus System (ERBAS).  The system is compact and easy to deploy inside a platform leg.  Once installed it replaces the cylinder change out method by refilling the escape cylinder whilst still being attached to the BA operative. ERBAS allows the BA operative to refill their 10 minute cylinder with air, in less than 60 seconds in one simple connection.
