Continental Europe REACH Beyond Zero Annual Safety Award winners announced

Stork celebrated examples of safety excellence at its regional Continental Europe REACH Beyond Zero Annual Safety Awards 2014 (Thursday 25 September).

The awards recognise Stork employees and teams who, throughout 2013, delivered exceptional safety performance in line with the values of the company’s REACH Beyond Zero safety initiative.

Around 70 industry leaders, Stork senior management and nominees from The Netherlands, Germany and Belgium attended the ceremony at on board the ss Rotterdam. Dutch football legend, Hans van Breukelen, added some flair to the occasion with his keynote speech which drew comparisons from the sporting world to improving safety, focusing on the importance of working as a team and discipline.

The Incident Prevention award was won by Sebastiaan Verdonck, Werfleider after his vigilant behaviour prevented a potential incident.

Bouwejan Knot won the award for Safety Innovation for developing the Safetybox following a client request for a mobile first aid room to improve safety onsite.

The Most Promising Individual Award recognised Michael Schmidt for constantly engaging in issues regarding safety at work and being regarded as role model for younger colleagues.

The ExxonMobil Rozenburg Team and Shell HDS5 team jointly won the Best Safety Performance award for their outstanding safety performance on challenging workscopes.

The Global Best Team of the Year Award went to the SABIC Account Team working more than four years without a recordable incident despite working in often challenging work environments. The Online Leak Sealing Team from the MECAP region were highly commended.

The Global Safety Leadership Award was won by David Murray from the UK & Africa, with Frandiney Guzman being highly commended.
