Lesson Learned - Upper Arm Injury

Recently a Stork Scaffolder suffered (the injured party) a strain injury to his upper arm whilst working on an offshore platform. This occurred while the IP was working as part of a team of Scaffolders who were dismantling a long term scaffold.

The job had been ongoing for 3 days with the operatives using various tools and equipment to assist. These were inclusive of impact guns, band and plate removal tools and prior lubrication of the seized scaffold fittings. The IP was removing a seized fitting whilst lying down and using the band and plate removal tool. He was pulling the tool towards his body to bend the wing up on the plate, when he felt a sharp pain in his right elbow.
