Lessons Learned: Cut to head during scaffolding operations

During the construction of an underdeck/outboard scaffold, the injured party (IP) was manoeuvring in a congested area. As the IP was moving to an upright position, he caught his hard hat on a beam above. The impact caused the hard had to make a minor cut on the IP’s forehead.

The scaffold being constructed was in a very compact area and there was restricted space for movement. Although the need for good spatial awareness was discussed during the Toolbox Talk, the IP still unfortunately hit his head against the beam above, causing his hard hat to make a minor cut on his head.
