Monthly review - December 2011

This briefing paper takes us to the end of 2011 which marks REACH Beyond Zero’s second anniversary. I am delighted to report that we celebrate this milestone with outstanding end-of-year results.

Throughout 2011, we have delivered a reduction of over 35% in our UK LTIFR, and over 30% across our global operations. We have also achieved a 55% improvement in our UK TRIFR, and over 40% across our global operations.

This means that - since the launch of REACH Beyond Zero in 2009 - we have reduced our UK LTIFR by over 70%, and by over 60% globally.

This did not happen by chance. Our success is down to our people and, on behalf of the leadership team, I thank you for your contribution to this success.

For the next three years, our goal is to deliver year-on-year safety performance that is 15% better than the industry norm. I am confident that we can achieve this, using the REACH Beyond Zero initiative as a framework for driving sustained improvement.
