An update from Mike Mann, SVP - Global HSSEQ

Following the REACH Beyond Zero launch last year, we now all have a shared commitment to improving safety together. I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on the global REACH Beyond Zero roll out and also to outline our safety targets for the new year ahead.

14,500 employees, ONE team
With the support of delivery teams across Stork, REACH Beyond Zero has now been launched throughout our organisation. The ‘REACH Beyond Zero is global!’ video showcases some of these events. Under the REACH Beyond Zero banner, we are ONE team working to make safety our number 1 priority.

What will REACH Beyond Zero do for us?
REACH Beyond Zero is the communications platform from which we base and communicate our safety culture. In practical terms, it will help us to:

- Share lessons learned - Your lessons learned will be uploaded on to the REACH Beyond Zero website. By doing this, we each benefit from one another's experience and prevent repeat incidents from re-occurring..
- Celebrate successes – Your achievements and successes will also be shared on the news section of the REACH Beyond Zero website.
- Recognise achievements – We have two formal REACH Beyond Zero awards schemes – our Annual Safety Awards and our ad hoc Recognition Awards.
- Evaluate performance – Monthly performance reviews tell us how safe we are and they guide us on which areas we need to improve upon.

What are we REACH Beyond Zeroing for?
Our global safety target for the year is to achieve a LTIF (lost time incident frequency) of <0.80, and TRIF (total recordable incident frequency) of <2.60.

We benchmark the global and regional performances on a monthly basis and these are shared with you by way of monthly briefing papers that can be found on the REACH Beyond Zero website.

How we will achieve this?
By working together to demonstrate and promote best practice in safety at all times. Some simple ways that we can all do this:

- Follow our house and operating rules at all times.
- Challenge unsafe acts and ensure that corrective action is taken.
- Report all incidents and near misses – no matter how small – so that we can capture and share lessons learned.

For more information, advice and resources, please visit the REACH Beyond Zero website – www.reachsafety.com or contact the REACH Beyond Zero Communications Team at reach@stork.com.

In the meantime, I look forward to working with you as we work together to make 2013 our safest and most successful year yet.
