Integrated services - exhaust removal
Challenge
The client invited Stork to propose a safe and efficient means of removing three exhausts from an offshore asset. The exhausts, which were 18m tall and weighed 4.5Te, were located on the South side of the platform in an exposed and congested location.
Solution
Stork utilised an integrated services approach that covered all aspects of the scope, including rope access, scaffolding, inspection, asbestos and construction, and delivered the work using multi-disciplined teams. Stork identified key areas that improved productivity on the project:
- A scaffold support frame with an encapsulation net fixed to it was erected. This removed the requirement for over side cover from a standby vessel
- A NIKO rail system which attaches to scaffold was implemented and this enabled more efficient rigging activities
- Hazardous waste was captured at site and contained prior to disposal
- LOLER lift plans were developed
