Wind turbine gearbox services and repair
The global wind industry is responding fast to the increasing need for wind energy development.
Worlwide companies are investing in wind power, being convinced of the benefits that wind energy can bring.
But there are still many questions with regard to increasing wind turbine reliability and minimizing downtime. Our highly skilled engineers have an extensive knowledge of specific windturbine problems.
We provide end of warranty maintenance and repair to ensure your windturbine is in optimum condition.
End of warranty inspections
Frequently, damage to vital components of a wind turbine such as gears may occur already during its first years of operation. Therefore, an inspection before end of warranty is of great importance. With our complete, portable workstation -Everest XLG3 videoscope- we are able to carry out fast and accurate onsite windturbine inspections and the neccessary repairs. We are your independent partner for high quality End of Warranty inspections, including detailed reports, recommendations and analysis. To pinpoint equipment failure we perform oil analysis, vibration measurements and thorough visual inspections.
Repair and modification of gearbox components
The repair and modification of wind turbines is a complex task because of the weight and height. As an independent service company our customers can rely on our extensive windturbine knowhow, detailed analysis and technical reports. We carried out an increasing number of gearbox overhaul projects. With our newest grinding machine – The Gleason Pfauter P 600/800 G we are able to manufacture high quality gears within the fastest possible time, which planetery gearboxes in wind turbines will strongly benefit from.
Preventive maintenance helps to avoid future unplanned breakdowns and potentially costly repairs.
Vibration analysis is an effective technique for monitoring the condition of the gears and bearings and determing the root cause of machine failure. With our CSI portable spectrum analyzer and Bentley Nevada multi-channel real-time analyzers we are able to carry out on-site vibration measurements detecting various sorts of gearbox problems:
- gear damage (e.g. scoring, abrasive wear)
- bearing defects (cage fractures, inner/outer ring damage)
- alignment errors
- resonance areas
Stork Diagnostic Services was recently hired to carry out visual inspections as well as vibration measurements at windturbine gearboxes in Europe. This combination results in a complete overview of the condition of the gearbox.
