Turnkey solutions for planned outages
With our wide experience and knowledge in the area of pressure vessels, Stork Thermeq is your specialized service company and O.E.M. for boiler pressure parts. In co-makership with contractors and preferred suppliers, one-to-one-replacements, revisions, and boiler upgrades are executed. Commissioning is always the most essential and final step: the Stork-technicians remain involved until the boiler installation is up and running.
During outages for planned maintenance, customers benefit from the combined competences of Stork Thermeq in:
- Engineering – using advanced software such as CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) for optimizing the boiler performance;
- Manufacturing – the specialized workshop for production of boiler components as well as heavy constructions for peripheral installations;
- Service – qualified welders, experienced in a wide range of welding techniques and qualifications such as SAW, SMAW, GTAW and GMAW/FCAW during manufacturing as well as during onsite assembly of boiler components. For more information about certificates please refer to our Quality Management.
Repair and replacement of pressure parts often starts with “legal inspections”. Whether it concerns one-to-one replacements, revisions or upgrades, the Stork Thermeq – service managers complete their job in the shortest possible turnaround time.
In general planned maintenance consists of
1 - Customer project definition
Within the project team the objectives are diskussed. Technical options are analyzed and finalized in the final scope of activities. Each member of the project team has a clear understanding of the planned actions, qualifications of the workforce, materials, planning and budget.
2 – Project Management
The Stork Thermeq Project Manager is responsible for:
- Planning the total project (engineering, manufacturing and onsite-activities)
- Organizing the kick-off meeting
- Briefing the engineering, manufacturing and service-departments
- Organizing the toolbox-meetings
3 – Engineering
Specialized engineers in boiler technology focus on the mechanical engineering. Advanced 3D-software is applied for Basic Engineering and Detail Engineering. The final drawings and bills of material are approved.
4 – Manufacturing boiler pressure parts
In the new and fully equipped workshop different boiler pressure parts are produced, e.g.
- membrane walls
- condensers (focus on re-piping)
- other pressure parts
Peripheral activities within the scope are e.g.:
- Repairing burner systems
- Repairing deaerators
- Heat exchangers
Different techniques for NDT (Non Destructive Testing) are applied.
During the FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) the final ‘as-built’ check is made.
Thereafter the documents for QA and QC are signed.
5 – Site preparation
The Project Manager plans the several onsite activities such as:
- Task-Risk Analysis
- The toolbox-meetings for service specialists, especially concerning safety
- A 3D-model for towing and assembly of pressure parts
6 – On Site activities
The Project Manager coordinates:
- Towing activities
- Assembly and welding
- Pressure tests
- Additional Non Destructive Testing
- SAT – Site Acceptance Tests
- Integrated knowledge and experience obtained a cross many projects and installations
- Continuous R&D for welding technology and steel components in boiler systems
- Specialized equipment e.g. membrane panel welding machines a tube bending machines
- Inter-company NDT-services to assist in measuring and analysis
