Challenge

Stork utilised an integrated services approach that covered all aspects of the scope, including rope access, scaffolding, inspection, asbestos and construction, and delivered the work using multi-disciplined teams. Stork identified key areas that improved productivity on the project:

  • A scaffold support frame with an encapsulation net fixed to it was erected. This removed the requirement for over side cover from a standby vessel
  • A NIKO rail system which attaches to scaffold was implemented and this enabled more efficient rigging activities
  • Hazardous waste was captured at site and contained prior to disposal
  • LOLER lift plans were developed

Solution

The contract included a complex combination of minor and major overhauls of steam turbines, compressors, pumps, blowers, expanders and fans from various manufacturers, which are scheduled during turnaround events. As an independent service provider, Stork Oryx Turbo Machinery Services LLC has experience with servicing almost all brands of steam turbines, compressors and pumps. The organization specializes in effective responses and short lead times enabling Clients to maximise their productivity and keep downtime of their installations to an absolute minimum.
