Challenge

TEG Contactors are an important part of the Oil & Gas production process and maintaining the integrity of these components at all times is critical. Stork was approached to carry out a full internal recoat of the C-2001 TEG Contactor on a major North Sea operator's FPSO. Scaffolding is traditionally used for this type of activity; however, the limited space inside the Contactor meant an alternative access method was required to deliver the workscope.

Solution

Stork’s approach to this challenge involved the pooling of expertise and cooperation from a range of Stork business lines, including Specialist Cleaning, Specialist Access Systems and Coatings & Surface Preparation and a multi-disciplined team of Specialist Cleaning, Coating & Special Access Technicians were mobilized to execute the workcope. This allowed the team to safely and efficiently carry out a range of tasks including the, removal of vessel internals, internal cleaning, existing coating removal, surface preparation, coating application and re-instatement of vessel internals.

Benefits

Stork's innovative approach delivered significant cost savings, improved efficiency and minimised downtime as the workscope was executed offshore which saved the vessel being sent back to shore for refurbishment. The workscope was completed on time, within budget with no safety or environmental incidents.
